🌐 What is TICAD?

TICAD, or the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, is a global platform launched by the Government of Japan in 1993 to promote high-level policy dialogue between Africa and international partners. It aims to advance Africa’s development through partnerships based on African ownership, mutual respect, and inclusive growth.

Organized in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the World Bank, and the UNDP, TICAD brings together heads of state, development agencies, civil society, and the private sector to accelerate progress in areas such as:

• Economic transformation

• Peace and stability

• Health and education

• Infrastructure and energy

• Climate resilience and food security
